Broadband and mobile broadband license obligations have forced telcos to invest to provide connectivity services, increasing the geographical coverage and bandwidth capacities for enterprises in metropolitan and rural areas.
We expect 2013 to be a critical year for telcos. They will face strong competition from other well-established cloud service providers (e.g., OTT service providers). Only those telcos capitalizing on their own network infrastructure will be able to take advantage of the opportunity by offering enterprise cloud services with lower latency and better control of bandwidth, policies and quality of service. The network ownership allows telcos to scale and bundle cloud computing services with their connectivity services more quickly and easily than traditional IT service providers, and provides some recognition for solid quality of service.
But what are the countries that have the optimal network conditions for the adoption of enterprise cloud services?
Pyramid Research has recently completed the Enterprise Cloud Readiness Global Index, which is the result of an analysis of enterprise cloud readiness in 49 countries. The countries included in this report account for 75% of enterprises worldwide. Countries with the highest rankings represent the markets with the best economic, demographic and services penetration levels for the adoption of cloud services. Here are the top countries:

Hope is not lost for countries that didn’t make our list, however. Pyramid Research predicts that the execution of some international broadband and mobile license obligations and deadlines will accelerate the adoption of enterprise cloud services in some of the countries with the lowest rankings levels today, transforming the service penetration for enterprises in metropolitan and rural areas.
