Cambridge, Massachusetts, November 8, 2010 - Pyramid Research (www.pyr.com), the telecom research division of Light Reading Communications Network, introduced a new Smartphone Forecast product today, the latest addition to Pyramid’s overall portfolio on mobile computing devices. Offered as a quarterly-updated subscription or as a one-off resource, the new offering provides device manufacturers, service providers, software and operating system companies, content providers, and others annual sell-through of total mobile handsets and smartphones for a ten-year period including five historical years and five forecast years.

This new forecast will provide the following analysis for each of 50 countries, six regions (Africa/ Middle East, Asia/Pacific, Central/Eastern Europe, Latin America, North America and Western Europe, and worldwide totals:
• For contextual purposes, each forecast includes a detailed demographics and macroeconomic section that provides Pyramid Research’s underlying assumptions for population, nominal GDP, GDP per capita, GDP growth, inflation, and exchange rates for the period of 2006-2015
• For contextual purposes, each forecast includes Pyramid Research’s underlying forecasts for total mobile subscriptions and mobile subscription penetration for the period of 2006-2015
• For all historical years and four future quarters, Pyramid Research provides total handset sell-through by quarter
• Segmentation of total handset sell-through by sale to new subscribers and replacement sales
• Segmentation of total handset sell-through by category including smartphone, messaging phone, feature phone, and ultra low-cost (ULC) phone
• Segmentation of total handset sell-through by technology type including GSM, CDMA, W-CDMA, LTE, TD-SCDMA, WiMax, and others
• Segmentation of total handset sell-through by generation including 2G, 2.5G, 3G, 3.5G, and 4G
• Segmentation of total handset sell-through by five price bands
• Segmentation of total handset sell-through by vendor including Nokia, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, RIM, Apple, Motorola, HTC, Huawei, ZTE, and others
• Segmentation of total smartphone sell-through by vendor including Nokia, RIM, Apple, Samsung, Motorola, and others
• Segmentation of total smartphone sell-through by operating system including Symbian, Android, BlackBerry OS, Apple iOS, Windows Mobile, and others
• ASP by device category including smartphone, messaging phone, feature phone and ULC phone
• Total revenues by device category including smartphone, messaging phone, feature phone, and ULC phone
