The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) - Jordan will be holding a forum on "Mobile Communications & Third Generation Services" on 25/6/2008 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Amman.
During the forum, TRC will announce its intent of granting licenses to authorize the provision of 3G Mobile Communications Services in Jordan, the results of a study conducted by TRC in relation to the mobile sector and future plans to stimulate competition within the sector, as well as discussing the use of radio frequencies in the 2GHz band for the provision of 3G services in the Mobile Sector. The TRC will also launch a consultation paper regarding the provision of 3G services in Jordan whereas TRC will raise a series of questions and request responses from all interested parties in order to issue a regulatory decision to determine the mechanisms that the TRC will follow in the licensing of the third generation mobile services.
Ahmad Hiasat the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners / CEO, stated that this step comes as part of a broader initiative to further develop and enhance competition in the telecom sector and to achieve additional benefits to users of mobile communications services in the Kingdom.
The invitation to participate in this event is open to all interested parties including, telecommunications operators, potential investors, concerned entities, and the media.

TRC is the independent body responsible for regulating the Telecommunications and Information Technology and Postal Sectors in Jordan.
