The market will generate $1.04bn in revenue in 2011 and will continue growing over the forecast period to $1.46bn in 2016. This growth will be fueled mainly by mobile voice and data services, which, after growing 12.5% combined from 2010 to 2011, will continue to grow at a 7% CAGR over the rest of the forecast period. In 2011, mobile revenue was higher than fixed revenue. The ratio between mobile and fixed revenues seems to be stable, though, with two-thirds of revenue coming from the mobile segment. Bolivia’s broadband market remains one of the most underdeveloped in Latin America. Broadband penetration in 2011 stood at 2.3%. Broadband revenue will increase at a CAGR of 13.2%, more than doubling over the next five years, from $64m in 2011 to $118m by 2016. Considering the low penetration of the broadband sector, the strength of cable/MMDS networks and Bolivia’s cooperative structure, we do not expect to see IPTV introduced in the country in the next five years.
