Switzerland is one of Europe's smallest telecommunications markets - by year-end 2008, it was the seventh largest in the region with $11.2bn in revenue (SFr12.1bn) - driven primarily by circuit-switched voice and mobile voice revenue. Over the next five years, Pyramid Research expects Switzerland's total market revenue to slip to $10.3bn, at a CAGR of -0.7%. The decline stems from a Europe-wide decrease in voice service ARPU. Meanwhile, mobile data and fixed broadband revenue is expected to increase from $2.9bn to $3.6bn from 2009 to 2014, at a CAGR of 4.6%. Despite the growth in data services, the revenue from this segment will not be sufficient enough to offset the steep decline in voice service revenue.
