Bezeq - The Israel Telecommunication Corporation Ltd is the state-controlled incumbent fixed-line and mobile
communications operator of Israel. The company is the principal provider of telecommunications services in Israel,
despite having had most of its core markets opened to competition since the mid-1990s. The company also owns
100% of Pelephone Communications, one of the largest mobile phone companies in Israel.
In July 2004, the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Privatisation authorised the Government Companies Authority to sell
a 30% stake in Bezeq. In addition to the 30% stake in the operator, the winner will have the option to acquire an
additional 10.66% interest. Assuming this option is exercised, the state will be left with a holding of 1.01%. In October
2004, eight investment groups were believed to have formally entered the competition to acquire a 30% stake in Bezeq.
Bezeq's shares are listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
