ADVA AG Optical Networking develops, manufactures, markets, and sells Optical+Ethernet-based networking solutions to telecommunications carriers and enterprises to deploy, manage, and deliver data, storage, voice, and video services in metropolitan areas.

ADVA commenced operations in 1994 as ADVA Integration Service und Entwicklugg von optischen Systmen und Komponenten GmbH. On January 25, 1999, the shareholders resolved to transform the company into a stock corporation. Since that time, the company has operated under the name ADVA AG Optical Networking.

The company's systems are used by telecommunications service providers, companies, universities, and government agencies worldwide. ADVA sells its product portfolio both directly and through an international network of distribution partners.

By the end of 2005, ADVA's solutions had been deployed at more than 100 carriers and 5,000 enterprises in more than 40 countries worldwide.

As of March 31, 2006, the EGORA Group held an 18.4% equity stake in ADVA. The remaining shares in ADVA are free float.
