Since March 2004, BCE has operated through five segments including Consumer, Aliant, Business, Other Bell Canada, and Other BCE.
The Consumer segment provides local and long-distance telephone, wireless, data, video, and other services primarily to residential customers in the states of Quebec and Ontario while the Business segment provides these services to large enterprises and small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the states of Quebec, Ontario, and western Canada.
Aliant is a provider of local and long-distance telephone, wireless, and data, and other services to customers in Atlantic Canada.
BCE’s Other Bell Canada segment includes the operations of NorthernTel Limited Partnership (NorthernTel), Télébec Limited Partnership (Télébec), Northwestel Inc, and the wholesale businesses of Bell Canada. Through its wholesale business, the company provides telephone, data, and other services to competitors. Télébec, Northwestel, and NorthernTel provide telecommunications services to sparsely-populated areas in the states of Ontario, Quebec, and the northern territories.
The Other BCE segment encompasses the operations of satellite and information technology (IT) activities and media businesses of the company. Bell Globemedia Inc, CGI Group Inc, and Telesat Canada come under this segment.
