Originally founded as the Galvin Manufacturing Corporation in 1928, Schaumburg, Ilinois-based Motorola provides seamless mobility products and solutions across broadband, embedded systems and wireless networks.

The company is currently comprised of four businesses: Connected Home Solutions: which provides a scalable, integrated end-to-end system for the delivery of broadband services for consumers. Its technology enables network operators and retailers to create and execute on new business opportunities by providing products and services to the home; Government and Enterprise Mobility Solutions: which provides integrated radio communications and information solutions for public safety, government and enterprise customers. It also designs, manufactures and sells automotive and industrial electronics systems and telematics systems; and, Mobile Devices and Networks: Mobile Devices designs, manufactures, sells and services wireless subscriber and server equipment for cellular systems,
portable energy storage products and systems, servers and software solutions and related software and accessories. Networks delivers capabilities in cellular, wireless broadband and wireline access technologies and claims to be a market leader in integrating core networks through wireless IP, wireless softswitch and IP multimedia subsystems.

Motorola's common stock is listed on the New York, Chicago and Tokyo Stock Exchanges.
