Telekom Austria AG, as Austria's incumbent telecommunications operator, provides fixed-line, mobile, data, and Internet services. The company also provides services through payphones and supplies telephones and technical equipment for telephone communications.
Mobile communications services are offered through Telekom Austria's wholly-owned subsidiary, mobilkom austria which, in addition to providing services in Austria, is responsible for mobile communications service providers in Bulgaria (MobilTel), Croatia (VIPnet), Slovenia (Si-mobil), and Liechtenstein (mobilkom). These operations include wireless Internet access.
Telekom Austria also owns 100% of the Czech Internet service provider (ISP) Czech On Line.
As of December 31, 2005, Telekom Austria was 30.2%-owned by Österreichische Industrieholding AG (OIAG), the Austrian government holding company. Of OIAG's 30.2% stake, 5% is held in the form of exchangeable notes which OIAG had placed in July 2003 with a maturity in 2006. The exchange price was priced at €13. The remaining 69.8% of the company's shares are free float, including employee stocks. Telekom Austria's shares and ADRs are traded on the Austrian Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange, respectively.
