Bahrain’s telecom services market was worth $625m in 2007, 62% of which came from mobile services. We estimate that the Bahraini telecom market overall will generate revenue of $788m by 2013. Although mobile services will continue to generate most of the revenue throughout the forecast period, future mobile revenue growth will come largely from mobile data rather than mobile voice. We expect mobile data revenue to reach $1,627m by 2013, representing 31% of mobile service revenue. Internet revenue will also increase notably over the next five years, from $28m in 2007 to $41m in 2013, largely thanks to broadband growth resulting from the end of Batelco’s monopoly on the sector. We assume that no IPTV services will be introduced into the market during the forecast period.
